Mal gucken, was die Zukunft bringt...".

Tis’ the season to make a gingerbread house! Truth be told this is my FIRST time ever doing one! You can definitely get crafty and make one from scratch but, this no-fuss-mom isn’t going for that. There are plenty of ready-made kits to buy and that’s exactly what I did. It’s such a great weekend activity, and with the holiday break quickly approaching, a great busy project to consider. TIP: My advice is to buy two, yes, two. Because there’s always the possibility the gingerbread could arrive broken during shipping and handling. And who knows, you might need some more icing and candy like we did cause someone (AKA Evelyn) kept eating it! Head to my Instagram story where I’ll have some handy links to where you can purchase your gingerbread house and see us in action while we assemble 🙈🏠 #nofussmama #gingerbreadhouse #gingerbreadhouseday Create A Treat

I’ve got an easy no fuss way to display your holiday cards this season! What you’ll need: 2-3 Command Hooks. Kitchen twine. Mini or regular clothes pins. 1️⃣ Find an empty wall or space and secure your Command Hooks to the wall. I’m using our mantel in the kitchen 2️⃣ With your twine, tie to one hook then the other, making sure there’s not too much slack because the weight of the cards will pull down on your twine 3️⃣ Use your clothespins to clamp your cards to the twine. TIP: If you feel there’s too much weight on your twine, just use your 3rd hook in the middle of your card display to ease up the weight 👌🏽🔖 #nofussmamholidaydecor #DIYholidaydecor #DIYholiday #nofussmama Command

You voted on my IG story and I heard! Here’s part 2 of our teacher/faculty appreciation gift—Homemade Hot Cocoa Mix. As I mentioned in my previous post, my children’s school policy is handmade gifts only. There are some folks at school that I’m not 100% sure would love the peppermint body scrub so I felt the hot cocoa mix would be a safe bet! Here’s what you’ll need to make 1 jar: A quart-sized mason jar; 2 1/2 cups of sugar (I use coconut sugar as its glycemic index is lower than regular table sugar, but feel free to use regular sugar); 1 1/2 cups unsweetened cocoa – use double dutch process cocoa for a darker, richer cocoa but regular cocoa will work just as well; 3 teaspoons of sea salt 1️⃣ Add ingredients in a mixing bowl and stir to combine with a wire whisk 2️⃣ Transfer to a 4 cup canning jar 3️⃣ I added some marshmallows on top and some festive twine around the lid. You can find black chalk labels you can write on and stick to the jar. I used a template I found online and stuck it to the jar using Mod Podge. To mix up as hot chocolate, simply add 2 tablespoons of the mix to one cup of hot milk (any type will work, but whole milk will give you the richest and smoothest hot chocolate) ☕️👨‍🏫 #nofussmama #teachersgift2017 #teacherappreciation

I love when I hear stories of how people choose to give back. I was especially moved when visiting my hairdresser yesterday who informed me that she was in Puerto Rico the past two days with 5 other hairdressers giving free haircuts to the citizens in need, including visiting a school. Thank you Naoko, your story warmed my heart. Need a cute gift idea for your children’s teachers this year? Here’s 1 of the 2 gifts we did—a homemade body peppermint sugar scrub. Sounds complicated? It’s not—only three ingredients. If there’s anyone who needs a little self-care over the holiday season, it’s our teachers. I’m so thankful to them and even though its just a small token of our appreciation, they should know they are greatly appreciated in our household. You might be thinking, why don’t I just send along my @CocoBabaOfficial Coconut Body Scrub? Well, our school policy only accepts homemade gifts! Here’s what you’ll need to fill a one-pint, wide mouth mason jar: 2 cups of sugar; a half cup of coconut oil, melted; 30 drops of peppermint oil 1️⃣ Mix all your ingredients together in a large mixing bowl 2️⃣ Transfer over to your mason jar and secure the lid tightly 3️⃣ I added some festive twine around the lid along with a candy cane. You can find black chalk labels you can write on and stick to the jar. I used a template I found online and stuck it to the jar using Mod Podge. Big news over here in the Willis household—Mabel lost her first tooth!!! I didn’t realize how emotional I would be about this but it’s truly a bigger milestone than I would have ever anticipated! So without trying to get too caught up in making this tooth fairy experience over the top magical (cause these kids lose a lot of teeth.) I did something simple but still special that I know I can keep up with—a tiny little fairy note tied around a $5 bill (that’s the going rate I’ve been told.) Let me just say that Mabel (and Evelyn) was beside herself with excitement when she woke up and looked under her pillow! Mission accomplished! ✅ Tip: I’ve decided to have a few of these notes pre-made and stashed so I’m not scrambling on the night she loses her next one! 😅 Tell me what the tooth fairy does or has done for your little ones below. I’d also love to hear a few tooth fairy fails! We all need a good laugh—laughing with you Never at you 💗🧚‍♀️ #toothfairytime #firsttoothlost #growingup #mybaby #nofussmama

The holiday season can be a real stressor. I think it’s vital during these busy times to take a minute to put our feet up and focus on ourselves. Here’s an easy recipe for a homemade cooling eye mask to help with puffiness and dark circles! This is what you’ll need: 1 large cucumber peeled and sliced. Half cup of green tea, cold. 1 tablespoon of coconut oil. 1 tablespoon of aloe vera. Eye rounds. Parchment paper and baking sheet to fit in your freezer. This recipe should easily make 30. 1️⃣ Add all your ingredients to your blender, blend well 2️⃣ Empty into a bowl 3️⃣ Dip your eye rounds into liquid and squeeze 4️⃣ Place flat on your parchment paper on your baking sheet and cover with another piece of paper for the freezer 5️⃣ Put in your freezer till frozen 6️⃣ When you are ready to use, remove two and let them thaw a little (as they come out rock hard) and enjoy! You can get your kids in on the action too because it’s all natural! But come to think of it, it’s a break for you -- take 5 for yourself 😉🥒👁 #nofussmama #selfcare #metime #cucumbereyepads

This 🎄is coming home with us! But the problem I find (besides trying to get my family to all look at the camera at the same time) is when we buy our tree too early, it dries out before Christmas even arrives! This year I’m being proactive! Here are some tips that I’ll be using that will hopefully keep our tree in tip-top condition! 1️⃣ Be careful transporting your tree home. Try not to break branches or bend the thin part at the top 2️⃣ Select a longer lasting variety to start with. Try to buy as local as possible so that your tree is fresh 3️⃣ Make sure to get your tree right into water when you get home. Make sure the water isn’t too cold or you will shock your tree. 4️⃣ Add nutrients. Your tree needs a sugar source and plenty of water. Add a 2 tablespoons of sugar to your water. Check your water level 1 to 2 times a day as some trees are just thristier then others. When you refill your tree stand with water, make sure it’s warm and include a teaspoon of sugar 5️⃣ Try LED lights as they tend to run less hot 6️⃣ Try using a humidifier in the room to keep the room moist. Any tips to add please comment below ⬇️🎄 #nofussmama #christmastreegoals
