Nikki Reeds schwerer Start

Ausgefallener Name hin oder her. Jedenfalls scheint es, als hätte Nikki Reed nach all den düsteren Stunden endlich ihr Glück gefunden - privat und beruflich.

Hey guys happy Sunday! By now you probably know that every Sunday I donate my social media to my Years of Living Dangerously team to talk about carbon pricing! Today's post comes from Cole Carr, a student at Portland State University. “Glaciers are more than indicators of climate change; they are frozen reservoirs of precious freshwater that is essential for drinking water, as well as sustaining local agriculture and outdoor recreation. Profit always seems to come before climate. Putting a price on carbon emissions would give the greedy a taste of how much it really costs to alter the climate and reduce our natural resources. We must #PutAPriceOnIt, especially in Oregon where we have the opportunity to pass the Clean Energy Jobs bill in 2018!” Photo by my brother...

Hi guys. The legendary Diane Warren asked me to be a part of this campaign along with Common and Andra Day - a campaign pushing us to to stand up for what we believe in and using our collective voice to fight for what’s right. With all of the toxicity floating around, I felt compelled to focus on kindness. The importance of this message has taken on a new meaning as we deal with the turmoil and challenges that have come to the forefront in our nation and around the world. Fellow humans, let’s all do our best to make kinder choices regarding how we treat each other and ourselves. If we can act and react from a place of kindness, we’ll all be a lot better off don’t you think? #standupforsomething https://youtu.be/2GhY7qXGx-0

Our dear friend Mark wrote, directed and starred in this beautiful film about his own family, with his actual family playing themselves in the film. This type of bravery in filmmaking is so rarely seen. He’s created a new type of storytelling using real people playing themselves, with a rawness only seen in documentaries, except in this case approached like a narrative film. Whether you know Mark or not, this movie will leave you loving him. It’s so honest, so real, so human. Thank you Mark for being so courageous, so vulnerable and creating art along the way. If you haven’t already go see FLESH AND BLOOD!!! http://www.fleshandblood.film/

Hey guys happy Sunday! By now you probably know that every Sunday I donate my social media to my Years of Living Dangerously team to talk about carbon pricing! Today's post comes from Morgan McClenan, a student at Stonybrook University. "I value nature and try to respect it with every decision that I make. As humans, we are part of the environment that we often carelessly abuse. Connecting with nature is my favorite past time and it really influences the way I see the living, breathing planet that we inhabit. Our aim should be to coexist peacefully rather than to control the resources available to us. We can learn so much more by observing and loving nature and ought to maintain our environment. Preservation and conservation is possible through thoughtfulness in what we consume and what we produce. I want to share my experiences of wilderness with future generations. If we #PutAPriceOnIt, it’s possible to make a measurable difference in how our climate is affected. I work to make a real difference in our world, one step at a time. Our planet is the most valuable resource we have. As a young person, I want it to be healthy for as long as possible. "

Thank you ELLE for bringing together such an amazing group of women for an inspiring evening of fearless and passionate storytelling. Thank you for encouraging a strong and honest dialogue time and time again. These conversations need to be had, not just for women in hollywood but for women around the world. It is no secret that the media has always had a massive influence on the way women are viewed, and the way they view themselves, so as we shatter paradigms in this arena the ripples will undoubtedly be felt beyond our industry. And as the women who were honored last night graciously accepted the responsibility, we were reminded again that it is our duty to talk about this until there is real change. Thank you to the women who shared their personal stories, for the rawness and vulnerability you so openly offered. As the great Laura Dern said last night “it used to be every man for himself, now it’s every woman for each other” ps Laura, I am your biggest fan...

On my way to present at Variety's Power Of Women luncheon and this is my hot date. Kidding I have another hot date. But this thing is definitely our third wheel. #momlife

14.10.2017

Just left Variety's #PowerOfWomen luncheon where I was asked to present an award to former golden gloves amateur boxer turned animal rights activist Chrissy Beckles and The Sato Project and all I can say is wow, what a room. With everything that is going on right now - the current state of our country - the man we are now calling our President- the devastating natural disasters - the downfall of one of the most iconic men in Hollywood (hard to use those words when talking about someone so vile) - there is certainly a lot to talk about and it goes without saying there is no better time to sit in a room full of intelligent, powerful and articulate women who aren't afraid to say what's on their mind. @variety thank you for having me. It is an honor and a privilege to be included. And Chrissy, as I said in my speech you ABSOLUTELY deserve to be there. You give a voice to the voiceless, and we are so grateful for all that you are doing to make a difference by fighting (literally) for the lives of so many dogs in need.

Beautiful night celebrating the one and only Jane Goodall in an unbelievable documentary about her time in Tanzania spent living with chimpanzees in the early 1960's. Wow what a beauty. Inside and out. Watching all of that raw footage shot by her late husband Hugo Van Lawick while listening to a live orchestra under the stars was nothing short of magical. Thank you National Geographic for having us, and for continuing to highlight the work of true heroes.

Hey guys happy Sunday! By now you probably know that every Sunday I donate my social media to my Years of Living Dangerously team to talk about carbon pricing! Today's post comes from Madison Hathaway at Portland State University. "Carbon pricing made me fall in love with environmental economics, so getting involved with the Put A Price On It campaign is the first major step that I have taken into my career. I was challenged by a professor in the beginning of 2017 to be more congruent with myself and turn my passions into direct actions. With that nudge, I started working on the Clean Energy Jobs campaign in Oregon (SB 1070) which is being considered by legislators in Salem. Our Climate set core principles that I return to when analyzing various bills and the mechanisms that they use to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. If a carbon pricing bill is not rooted in climate justice, I will not support it. I believe people should always be prioritized over corporate profits. Economic gain is obsolete on an uninhabitable planet. Even though it might seem like an insurmountable task, we can continue to do our best to mitigate the effects of climate change and get our world on a more sustainable path. I am working hard to #PutAPriceOnIt because carbon pricing is one of the best first lines of defense that we can and must execute."

The last few days have been unbearably heavy. Yesterday Ian and I both looked at each other and said we needed to acknowledge out loud that we were both too sad to speak about what happened Sunday night in Las Vegas. This is devastating for everyone, but having a newborn only makes it harder to recover from what we all woke up to Monday morning. We would read to ourselves as the news stories kept updating on our phones, occasionally bringing up "the latest" and then retreating back to our metaphorical rooms. Guys, enough is enough. What argument is there to be had when people are losing their lives? The will it/wont it debate on whether or not gun control will make a difference is an irresponsible use of our time and energy at this point. No matter who you are and what you believe, doesn't it make sense to at least try? This isn't about the second amendment, this isn't about politics, this is about human beings murdering each other while we sit back and once again use divisive language to win an argument we shouldn't be having in the first place. Clearly, what were doing now ISN'T working so doesn't it make sense to try a different approach? This is about keeping guns out of the hands of crazy people, and I cannot imagine there is a single sane person in this country right now that wouldn't agree with that...right?

A true privilege getting to present at the #EMAawards to a show I am so proud to say we're a part of. Debbie Levin, thank you for asking us to join you year after year, and for inviting us to be Environmental Media Association board members. What a powerful room to be in with some of the most compassionate innovators and change-makers of our time. If you haven't had the chance, please take a second to watch Years of Living Dangerously. It is by far the most informative docu-series on the greatest threat human beings have ever known; climate change. It's visually stunning, with an incredible cast, but more importantly it's saying something and it's time we all listen. Thank you to these two geniuses who have devoted their lives to making the world a better place. Thank you for continuing to believe that human beings will wake up...that they want to wake up. Thank you for giving us hope through your provocative storytelling while tackling an issue that is too real to ignore. Joel Bach and David Gelber, you've made me a better person just by knowing you, and it's an honor to call you my/our friends.

HUMANS ARE NOT IMMUNE🌎 Hey guys happy Sunday! By now you probably know that every Sunday I donate my social media to my Years of Living Dangerously team to talk about carbon pricing! This one is from Ephraim Infante, a senior at Arizona State University's post below. "In elementary school, I first learned about climate change and noticed that the conversation was focused on its impact on the planet and other animals such as pandas, penguins and polar bears. Humans were omitted from the climate equation, as if humans are immune. We are not. We are more dependent on planet Earth than planet Earth is dependent on us. Our climate is changing at increasingly faster rates, and we humans are also consuming more and disposing of materials more rapidly. We are made to believe that we need more and that "new is always better." This false narrative disconnects us from our place in nature, and it also disconnects us from one another. The concept of "voting with your wallet" is a principle that I live by. How we spend our individual dollars says volumes about the conditions of our society. While it's imperative to vote for policy makers that support climate action, I want to support industries and businesses that feel the same. #PutAPriceOnIt recognizes that climate change is an intersectional issue that requires an intersectional solution. #PutAPriceOnIt offers an equitable solution to climate change and all of its intersections. If we want to hold industries accountable, putting a price on carbon will offer an economic incentive to do so. "

A note from us...

23.09.2017

Hey guys happy Sunday! This week's post really spoke to me, and I hope you will take a second to read it. By now you probably know that every Sunday I donate my social media to my Years of Living Dangerously team to talk about carbon pricing! This one is from Zina Precht-Rodriguez, a junior at Columbia University in New York City. "Fighting climate change means navigating relationships between individuals and the earth. Over the past few years, my mom and I have tended to this vegetable garden. We’ve seen first-hand how the soil can accept a seed and bear a zucchini as large as my arm; but we’ve also seen how the same soil can reject even our most calculated efforts to harvest the carrots that flourished last year. Part of the emotional disconnect with climate change in consumer societies is that in everyday life we are shielded from the story behind the products we possess, whether that be food on our plate or the oil in our gas tank. We are discouraged from being thoughtful or asking questions; we are taught that if we pay for the final product, then the final product is ours to possess. I am a climate activist because I want to highlight the implications of how the product was brought to us in this very moment— whether it be haunting or beautiful. I want to encourage mindfulness and dismantle complacency. At my university, we are going to campaign to build transparency around the real price of our carbon crusades. Put A Price is about acknowledging that we have taxed the planet far enough, and it is time to equilibrate the individual-to-earth relationship before the chance is lost. "

Second go-round with this gem. Written in a beautifully poetic manner, the way he questions love almost feels unbearably truthful. It is an ordinary love story that feels far from ordinary when reading it. Forgive the cover, it made out with my candle.
