'The Scorpion King': Durchbruch im Filmgeschäft

AM sweat equity and takin’ care of the machine. Im always asked how I “manage and balance” the stresses of life? My answer is I make it a point to protect the thing that allows me to do what I do. That “thing” is my machine - mind and body. I block out three hours every morning before I go into work and before my entire household gets up. It’s my critical alone time that allows me to mediate, clear the stresses, train hard and anchor my day. We’re all looking to improve our management skills and find that all important balance of our busy lives. Family, our jobs, raising our babies, payin’ the bills, school, relationships, the world pullin’ you a million different directions etc. We all go thru the same complex shit, just different degrees of volume and intensity on a daily basis. Take care of and protect your machine and find your anchor. Because at the end of the day, regardless of how many people, businesses, co-workers, friends, advisors, teammates or loved ones you may have in your life - no one knows your machine and what it needs better than you. No one. Well, I actually know your machine better than you do, but I don’t count because I’m a Jedi. Headphones on. World goes away. #OurMachine

Battered and barely surviving. Day 42 of 64 shooting our action thriller #SkyscraperMovie. I prepared for intense shoot based off the material, but this “barely surviving” daily mindset has served me in ways I never anticipated, professionally - and personally. Universe works in funny ways and has a helluva sense of humor by putting things in our lives that have far greater value that what’s just on the surface. Grateful for this daily grind. I need my tequila. #Day42Of64 #BatteredBruised #ThankYouUniverse #SkyscraperMovie

Good karma and pickle dicks. I mean pickle dick. Singular. 2am and going strong with my 2nd Unit Director, JJ Perry who’s one of the best in the business and a long time collaborator of mine over the years to execute cool & bad ass action sequences in my films. He’s also the only man I know who can use the words Dali Lama, good karma and pickle dick in the same paragraph and get me motivated as hell to shoot it. Luv this dude. Crazy & brilliant. The way I like em. #2am #AdrenalineKicksIn #SkyscraperMovie

Giddy up. Puttin’ in the hard work on a sexy Friday night with my 2nd Unit crew on our #SkyscraperMovie. In our world, 2nd unit directors and crews are rockstars who get down and dirty with one goal in mind - gettin’ shit done. 2nd Unit director JJ Perry gettin’ us fired up. #FridayNights #PainTrain #Loco4L #2ndUnit #SkyscraperMovie

Writer: Hey DJ here’s the script but say it in your own words. DJ: Sure amigo 🖕🏾 Had a blast being the musical Executive Producer for The #WWE2K18 Deluxe Edition by WWE 2K is available NOW on Apple Music. This soundtrack I’ve curated are tracks taken directly from my #IronParadise workout playlist. WARNING: when you listen, you may want to run thru a f*cking brick wall, so listen at your own risk because my tracks are like a runaway locomotive riding dirty in your ear canals. That’s a tad extreme, but I am what I am. Enjoy.. ✊🏾

A few months back we invited our digital journalist buds out to Hawaii to the set of JUMANJI for a little visit. We told them “You’re going to meet the big, bald, brown tattooed star of the film and experience the adventures of the Hawaiian jungle first hand.” We clearly delivered on our promise. Mahalo guys for hanging with us on set. Always fun and stay cool. The haters may say this is photoshopped, but who likes assholes anyway? Not us. Aloha! 🤙🏾 Fandango, Nerdist, Bustle, Collider.com, Global Grind, Rolling Out, La Opinion, ComingSoon.net, Screen Rant, CinemaBlend. #JUMANJI this CHRISTMAS.

Daddy’s gotta go back to work ~ Hobbs. Pumped to expand and build out the FAST & FURIOUS universe in a cool, exciting way with our Seven Bucks Productions, writer/producer Chris Morgan, producer Hiram Garcia and lead producer and my bigger twin, Neil Moritz. Thank you UNIVERSAL STUDIOS for being tremendous partners who see the big picture and for coming to us years ago with this spinoff idea. Huge shout to my brother, Jason Statham for the trust and wanting to create and deliver something fresh and bad ass for the fans. I have a tremendous amount of respect for this franchise that I’ve enjoyed droppin’ blood and sweat in over the years and my vision is to create greater opportunities for not only my fellow FF cast mates, but for other amazing actors as well who want to be a part of something new and cool. I want to use my spinoff platform to create new characters that fans will ultimately love to have fun with in multiple chapters and platforms. Film, TV, Digital, Virtual Reality etc.. the more opportunities we can create the better for the fans. Smart business. Let’s have some FUN and to quote, Hobbs the boss, if you don’t like it, we’re happy to beat that ass like a Cherokee drum. #HOBBS #SevenBucksProds #NewOpportunities #CandyAssesNeedNotApply JULY 2019

Big dogs eat. As many of you know, it ain’t a size or gender thing...it’s a mentality thing. Shout to all my big dogs around the 🌎 as we’re over here quietly on our weekend grind earning sweat equity. Because at the end of the day, we’re always willing to put in the raw hard work for the one thing we relentlessly chase daily - the results. Heavy ass chains around your neck are always optional. Have a hungry and productive week #HardestWorkersInTheRoom #BigDogsEat

Battered, bloodied and bruised. Shooting day 39 of 64 on our action thriller #SkyscraperMovie. I may be the one who looks like nine kinds of hell, but we all make the movie and live the story - as a team. Waiting between takes with my good bud and one of the best camera operators on the planet, Colin Anderson. From STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS to ARGO, he’s an award winning operator with the perfect demeanor for the grit and intensity our movie is. Plus, we have a great shorthand since we shot HERCULES together in Budapest for months. Colin knows exactly how to shoot my “good side” which is generally the back of my head. #Teamwork #BloodiedBruisedAndBattered #SkyscraperMovie

💫 ❤️Just wanted to shine some light on this incredibly strong and beautiful 15yr old girl, Cheyanna. She was supposed to be my special guest on the set of #SkyscraperMovie for our big MAKE A WISH DAY in a few weeks with 10 other kids/teens and their families. Cheyanna’s cancer has relapsed and instead she’ll be going to St Jude’s Hospital in Memphis for treatment. Sending so much love, light, support, positive energy and strength her way. Im moved and humbled her wish was to meet me. She says if she had one super power, she would be Bat Girl... the irony is, Cheyanna’s already blessed with super powers.. and way more stronger than I’ll ever be. Stay strong Cheyanna and keep smiling. We’re all pulling for you! Love, DJ

Shut production down for a few minutes so my good buddy, Dr. Lim could administer a tetanus shot and inspect my gash aka DJ boo boo. Not sure if he was more weirded out when I said, I actually love making things bleed or when I asked for a tequila flavored lollipop for my pain. #SkyscraperMovie #LetTheBloodFlow 🍭

Night night. The glaze you see over my eyes as Im about to pass out is real. As is how deep this rear naked choke is sunk in by UFC veteran turned actor/stuntman Jason Day. In our action thriller #SkyscraperMovie I barely survive everything that’s thrown my way. Including this fight. First take when Jason slapped this rear naked on me, I knew right away, holy shit, this brother is sinking it in. I thought fuck it, the more real the better, it’ll be great for the movie. After every take Jason would always ask if everything was ok with the choke. I said everything was great. Our director, Rawson Thurber called me and Jason over to the monitor to watch playback of the scene. Rawson and Jason were happy and felt we got it, but I said, let’s take one more crack at this. Before I walked away I whispered to Rawson, I’m gonna let him hold the choke longer, just keep shooting. After the take was done and I got my senses back and SLOWLY got up, me and Jason hugged like grateful gentlemen. He’s a real class act and bad ass. A pleasure getting my hands dirty with a real fighter. #BarelySurviving #SkyscraperMovie

Good time shooting Instyle-Magazine’s MAN OF STYLE. Thank you so much to everyone’s effort in making the shoot a success. Style and sexy isn’t a “thing”. It’s a mindset. Don’t try.. just be. Stepping on set to shoot these highly intense (and bloody) scenes as the iconic Ella Fitzgerald plays throughout our speakers setting the eerie tone for the night. The irony here is our Academy Award winning Cinematographer, Robert Elswit loves to set the mood before chaos ensues. Robert won the Oscar for “There Will Be Blood” with Daniel Day-Lewis. And if you’ve ever seen that film’s finale, is easy to understand the psychology he’s applying to our set. And so the heart stopping chaos begins. Sing me in Ella... sing me in. #SkyscraperMovie

A lil’ taste of my Ebony POWER 100 cover shoot. Thank you team. My first Ebony cover was over 17yrs ago when I first broke into the business of Hollywood. Having no idea where this long road would take me. Grateful for the journey. Grateful for the grind. Hits newsstands this THANKSGIVING. For the record this is how I always casually post up and just stare at my tequila before I drink it. 🥃 📸 @gavinbondphotography

Follow me into the jungle. So grateful to have the best fans on the planet. This character will always hold a very special place in my DNA. A month before I was supposed to start shooting #Hercules, I ripped both the top of my quadricep and my adductor tendons of my pelvis. And if that wasn’t enough, that injury weakened my abdominal wall causing three tears and forcing me to get three emergency hernia surgery. I’ve gone thru a ton of pain over the years but this one was the worst. MGM was pulling the plug on our film, but I had other plans. Too many people relying on our movie to feed their families. 8 weeks later I was on set and playing #Hercules. A real mental challenge to push thru the fun pain, but we always gotta finish what we start. THANK YOU Kirk Drinkwater, Nikko Hurtado for this honor. #PushThru #Repost Nikko Hurtado ・・・ I was able to make this rad #hercules portrait while in London. Done on a very nice guy @kirkdrinkwater Portrait also made of the amazing @therock Dwayne Johnson motivates so many of us to get up off of our lazy asses. My client immortalized @therock on his skin for the rest of his life because he is motivated and influenced by him. How crazy is that. I Would like a little more time on another sitting to fine tune this but it's the best I got. 10 hours to make this. Thank you so much London another memorable and amazing trip down! Now to get back to good old sunny California. @blackanchorworldwide @stencilanchored
